Summer is here, and that means long, tousled tresses are in! These 6 tips will help you grow long, healthy hair to match those summer vibes. ☼
Protect your hair with a weekly treatment.
You might not realize it, but your hair is put through the ringer on a daily basis—especially during these hot summer months. UV rays, chlorine, and chemical damage from coloring can cause your hair to become weak and frail. And weak, unhealthy hair just doesn’t grow. So, use a Refuge treatment at least once a week to protect your hair from daily stressors, because healthy, conditioned hair is much easier to grow out.

Use a silk pillow case.
A silk pillowcase helps reduce friction between your hair and the pillow. This can help reduce breakage and, believe it or not, bedhead! Using a silk pillowcase can help extend your styling, so you don’t have to retouch those curls or wash as much. Making the switch to a silk pillowcase is a simple way to get longer hair, without much effort.

Take vitamins for your hair.
If you’ve been trying to grow your hair out for-ev-er and it seems like it just won’t grow—you could be lacking the vitamins and nutrients needed to achieve the length you want. But luckily, they make vitamin blends specifically designed to promote hair growth! I’m a sucker for gummies, so I use these Undeniable Beauty vitamins by Olly to jump start my day. Bonus: these vitamins help support healthy nails and skin, too!

Turn down the heat.
This might seem obvious, but repetitive use of styling tools (blow dryers, flat irons, curling wands) can seriously damage your hair. Heat can cause breakage, which makes growing out your hair that much harder. I recommend rocking your natural hair as much as possible while trying to grow out your hair. Try to use a tool with adjustable heat settings to help protect your hair on those days when you simply need to style it; and don’t forget to use a product with thermal protection to prevent as much damage as possible!

Massage your scalp.
Don’t forget to give your scalp some love! Massaging your scalp once a week will increase circulation and blood flow, which can help stimulate your roots and promote hair growth. I like to give myself a “scalp facial” at least once a week to prevent product build up and promote healthy, shiny hair. Want to try a scalp facial at home? Simply shampoo your hair, and massage your entire scalp with raw sugar before you rinse!

Get regular trims.
Last but not least, getting regular trims is essential for anyone trying to grow out their hair. Simply ask your stylist to “dust” your ends during your visit, that way she just takes off enough to keep your hair healthy and happy—without losing any length. You should aim to get a trim every six weeks to keep your hair healthy and growing!
❤ Always!
